It’s wild to think about how there used to be a time when you couldn’t just look back on your daily moments so easily!

I’ve never done this before actually, but knew I wanted to try it when I saw it! I like the added piece of having the words disappear under the drawing because you take something potentially difficult and make it into something beautiful!

But it also does trick your brain into just letting the completely unfiltered version out!

My daughter loves to craft with me! She is at a great age to do something independently, while I work on something and it fills her quality time cup!

I lost someone today.

You can’t work in mental health and not have this experience at least once! And it never gets easier. This one is hard. She was 13, a baby. And I worked with her, hard. To try and get her what I knew she really needed and I couldn’t. Nor could the other people who tried equally hard alongside me.
.
.
The system failed her and sadly now she is gone before she could see that it can get better
.
.
We have to find a better way and we can’t keep living in a world where we are so disconnected when we need support the most.

We tend to forget about our bodies when we are in a state of overwhelm and emotional intensity, at least I know I do!
.

But that surge of adrenaline is biological. It’s our bodies way of saying, something is wrong, we have to prepare for battle. The problem is, generally we no longer live in a world where we need that response to save our lives.
.
.
We do need to address it though because it’s what feeds our emotions, anxious thoughts and sometimes impulsive behaviors. So instead of jumping to the emotional explosion or intense problem solving mode, do something to let your body know it’s safe…and see if that helps calm the thoughts and emotions from there!
